I used to use ChitChat up until last Friday when it stopped working. A note on the ChitChat website read that "Yahoo disconnected the Java Chat protocol. Yahoo Chat continues on the new Messenger Protocol."

Is there an alternative to ChitChat that would allow access to the chat rooms, perhaps using the Mesenger Protocol?

thanks!

Well, this is yet another example of why I'm beginning to really hate Yahoo.

FWIW, I sent this message to them via their feedback form for chat:

Once again, Yahoo cavalierly abandons open web standards (Java) and lackadaisically embraces closed, proprietary, virus-prone Microsoft-only operating system technologies. And for absolutely no good reason. Thanks a lot, Yahoo. Especially for all of the viruses, trojans, key-loggers, rootkits, and spyware, et al, that everyone who uses Yahoo services is about to receive.

Really, all things considered, why doesn't Yahoo simply change it's name to Microsoft_Junior.com? At least it would be more informative and truthful name.
