I decided to go M1 iPad Pro 13" w/ Magic Keyboard as my mobile computer a few months ago. It's going great other than the abysmal battery life (about 5 hours) but one pain point that continues to irk me is I take a lot of notes in Word and write a lot of reports for clients. It seems like the Office 365 iOS team has decided to account for the lower-tier iPads and not suffer from data loss by saving & closing docs as soon as I minimize the app. So let's say I'm in Word and taking notes and I tab over to Outlook for a second to reply to an email or minimize Word to see if I have a new email. If I re-open word too fast, it locks up and freezes for 10 seconds then "reopening document" comes up and it puts me back. Or the app crashes when I tab back over to it or it lets me type in the doc for 5-10 seconds then crashes.

What I think is happening is just in case iOS memory management goes ballistic, Word is in the habit of saving my doc back to Office 365's OneDrive because it assumes I'm done editing. Is there any way to tell Word that it should just save the doc but not close it when I tab away from Word?
