I successfully installed Yosemite Public Beta 3 on another partition, but when I tried to boot back into Snow Leopard, there were just 2 volumes appearing when I held down the option button at startup, the 'Yosemite' volume and an installer volume.
I booted into recovery, went into disk utility and saw that snow leopard was still there (phew), so for some reason it was blanketed over.
I deleted the Yosemite partition and the disk1 (installer) down below and now everything on snow leopard is fine.
But, how can I run snow leopard and yosemite in 2 partitions without problems?
What did I do to get it installed?
1. Downloaded the yosemite installation
2. Partitioned my drive for yosemite.
3. Launched the installer, chose the destination as my other partition
4. Installed

Would I have run into the same issue had I created a bootable USB of yosemite?
Any tips to get these both running smoothly side by side! Thanks!
