How can I do a fresh installation of OS X ML without touching Windows 7?

I want to remove everything on the OS X side and install a fresh installation of the latest version of OS X Mountain Lion without adversely effecting my Windows 7 installation. I use Windows 7 for work daily, so it's especially important that it remains accessible and unharmed. Both operating systems are on the same SSD.

You boot into the installer, format the Macintosh HD partition/volume the Mac OS X resides on via Disk Utility and then install Mac OS X onto that.

Be sure to backup your Windows partition via WinClone or other means before that.

winclone can be used to restore on another configuration / machine (but then you can have activation issues)
