Running the latest version of Safari, I am looking for a way for when downloading files to be presented with a choice of where to save that file. For example, in IE on Windows, when you go to download something, it asks you where you would like to save it and what you would like to name the saved file. I would love to find a way to do this in Safari.

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks,

David

Edit: It is unusual that I find something more useful in Windows than in OS X! In fact, this is a first. I know many of you will say Safari's way of only downloading to one folder with one click is easier, but it is just a preference.

It's not exactly what you want, but you can change were Safari saves files.

Hold down the Option key & right-click or Option & Control keys & (left) click & a contextual menu will appear. Choose "Download linked file as…" & a standard save dialog box will appear & let you choose the location.

Another thing learned. Nice one.

If you hold down the option key while right clicking the option should change from "download linked file" to "download linked file as"

dont know if its possible without holding down the option key though.

The ability to edit contextual menus would certainly be appreciated

EDIT: Need to learn how to type faster

Another safari question. When im typing in the address bar i get the drop down menu of possible matches but not when i delete characters from whats already in the address bar.

Example i type macrummors and delete the last 3 characters nothing happens but if i then add the "o" the drop down menu shows.

anyway to enable this in safari?
