There is a podcast that recently brought back a slew of their old podcast episodes from way back from 2007 and I am hoping to download it and be able to save it just in case it ever goes away again. How can I accomplish this? Is third party software needed? Don't mind doing this on either the Mac (Ventura) or my iOS or iPadOS devices.

With the Podcasts app, there’s only automatic download for “New” episodes. So it depends on how the podcast re-released them… if they’re “New” episodes that are a repeat of an old episode (This American Life, 99% Invisible, Radiolab do this a lot - modern intro wrapped around old content) then setting Podcasts app to download all new episodes should get it done.

If they literally un-hid old episodes (so they’re still dated from back in 2007 or whatever), you’d have to download them by clicking on each episode. 3rd party apps might have other options.

Does the podcast in question show up in a web-based player (like, if they have a home page on the web)? If so, you might find a "download" option or be able to get the browser to save the audio file to your hard drive.
