How can I find "orphaned" iTunes files?

Suppose you accidentally deleted entries in iTunes - the files are still there, buried somewhere in the iTunes folder, but the entries in iTunes are gone.

How can you find such "orphaned" files so that they can be added back to the iTunes library?
