How can I force a larger screen resolution?

I picked up a new monitor and want to take advantage of it's size. It's max supported resolution is 1920x1080. When I hold option and click scaled these are my only options:

1080p is 1920x1080. It's not possible to run at a higher resolution.

You need to buy a display that has more pixels then. This is a physical limitation of the display.

can I make windows and fonts appear smaller then?

Did u buy a 32 or 37 inch TV?

At close range you will see text fuzzy and everything pixelated.

I have 3 1920x1200 28" and one 28" 1080.

Tried a 37" 1080 once and it was a disaster. Put it back in box and returned it se day.
