I want to get a still image (.jpg or some other format) of the first frame of a video I have so that I can use that picture as a link on my website. What is the best / easiest way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

what are u using to edit? I think after effects allows you to export in jpeg

It's just a Quicktime video that I ripped off a DVD. I did not really edit it at all. I thought about using Grab to take a selection but that is too much work if I want to do this is large quantities.

take a screen shot

command + shift + 4

and select the area of the video that u need(just pause it)

and it will save it to the desktop

its much simpler then programs etc

If you have FCP you just need to set the playhead to the frame you are interested in and choose File/Export/Quicktime Conversion/Still Image.
Not sure if FCE or iDVD have that capability or not...
