You guys know how after you have copied all system fiiles during the OSX Panther installation, before it starts collecting your info, OSX Playes this "Welcome" video where the word "Welcome" flies in and out in different languages.

Do any of you have a clue how I can get that that video and/or music? Like where it is stored on a computer or maybe a place i can download it?

Thanx,

Dimitri

wasn't it 'Sofa Rockers' by Sofa Surfers/Richard Dorfmeister (Kruder&Dorfmeister) ? Maybe that was for 10.2... did they change it ?

No, I am not going to re-install 10.3 to check the tune :p

It's definitely Röyksopp's Eple in Panther. And it must be sitting in a file somewhere on your system.

Did a search for Eple and didn't find it. What else would it be called?

They changed the music in Panther? I had no idea, since I upgraded.

It's not particularly good quality, but the official site (I think) has a full-length Real Audio version of Eple (in the Melody A.M. album):

http://www.astralwerks.com/royksopp/

From the sound of it, I like the Jaguar one better (I think etoiles is right on that one). Too bad neither of them are on the iTMS.

it would actually be quite interesting to know where the files are stored on my computer... so I can delete them!!!

haha, they are taking up valuable space...

PS... J/k

Eple is the perfect choice for Panther! :) Royksopp, or rather: Røyksopp, are from Norway, and eple is Norwegian for apple. ;)

I'll do my share you know! :) Stay tuned for more Norwegian in my next posts...

Useless piece of trivia No. 2:

"Mac" is the Gaelic for "son".

(And that's indirectly where the name comes from, see the "Meaing of Mac" thread for details - typo is in the original thread title).

You can find the intro music in System>Library>CoreServices>Setup Assistant>Contents>Resources>intro-sound.aiff

Note: to get the contents of Setup Assistant you have to right click or Crtl+click on Setup Assistant and choose "Show Package Contents". Have fun :)

On this subject of finding system files, does anyone know where I could find the new metallic Apple logo seen in the boot screen and the "About This Mac" window? I've been wanted to use it as a replacement icon for Finder in my dock but I've searched everywhere to no avail.

The silvery apple can be found in System>Library>Core Services>loginwindow>Contents>Resources>MacOSX.tiff

It will require cropping to be an icon as it also includes the words Mac OS X.

i wonder if it would be at all possible to play that welcome video instead of the normal grey/startup screen on every startup

Like on Os 9 where you place a file called startupmovie in the system folder and it plays at startup.
