the internet, mostly
Up until yesterday’s “upgrade” (or rather, change) to iOS 26, I could just open a picture from Files, that was opened in a lovely single image viewer and I could just flick through all images by swiping. The Preview app won’t let me do that.

I mean, I get why it’s there, but I’d prefer the old behaviour. The classic image viewer is still there in Files, how can I set it as the default?

In Files, you can tap and hold an image in the files list, and then select “Open With” in the context menu. There you can select “Preview with Quick Look”, and it’ll open in the viewer you’re used to. It should remember that setting for future images as well. :)

Thanks very much for this…which I had noticed like the OP. When I read your post I tried it and bingo it worked perfectly. Then I tried it on a different folder of pics and nothing happened after clicking “Preview with Quick Look”. I tried the first folder again and again nothing happened.

Then I realised that after selecting “Preview with Quick look” a new Quick Look option appears in the menu and it apples to all subsequent folders, so you only need to select Quick Look once and after that simple click on any image in any folder will open in Quick Look and enable the swiping through.

I realise now this is what you meant by “remembering for future images”.

Thanks very much for the solution.
