I uninstalled the app with Pearcleaner, but this toggle didn't go away.

If I was a betting man, I would bet that my suggestion below works for you.

First, you need to download "EasyFind".
It's small, and free. Get it here:

Once you have EasyFind, set it up like this (on the right):
search for - files and folders
operator - phrase
comparison - ignore case
include - invisible files & folders

On the right, there's a popup window.
Set it for your internal drive.

Now, you have to enter a search string into your search bar.
I'll suggest several. If the first doesn't work, try the next, etc.
- co.highlyopinionated.swish
- highlyopinionated
- highlyopinionated.swish

In EasyFind, click the "magnifying glass" on the right and give it some time to see what it comes up with.

Do you get any hits?
There may be more than one.

Ok, let's assume that EasyFind finds 3 hits.

Put your pointer down below and click ONE time on the first one to select it.
Then type "command-R" to REVEAL IT in the finder.
Do you see it in the finder?
If so, try dragging it to the trash.
The finder may request an administrative password.
If so, enter it.
Repeat for all the other entries.

When done, quit EasyFind and empty the trash.
Now, REBOOT.

Go back to system settings and see if that's still there.
What do you find?

I already tried exactly that, but with Find Any File app. I deleted four search-related files and folders, including some hidden ones, rebooted, and the toggle still appears. I suspect the list of those toggles is inside a system plist file. I ran a search, changing the parameters to search "within" files, and many files and a couple of plists appeared, but the plists, by name, seemed more related to Spotlight. I tried editing those plists with a plist editor, but I ran into errors when saving and gave up (I wasn't convinced those plists had anything to do with the problem anyway).

I think anyone can replicate the problem in Tahoe by uninstalling an app that has the option to display an icon in the menu bar.
