In my code, I need to detect whether the user has set a high contrast in System Preferences->Universal Access.

Do you have any idea how can I do that? Any programming language would do for me!

Thank you!

No contrast setting on the great majority of LCD screens

There is no contrast setting as such on the vast majority of LCD screens other than the very high end graphical user screens such as Eizo and Lacie. The nearest you can get to this is to use a screen profiler (Huey, Gretag Macbeth etc) and profile your screen. This can have the same effect as contrast. As a quick fix, use the Expert profiler in Displays/Colours/Calibrate in System Preferences.
