So I live in a country with no official Apple store. Apple products are imported by retailers here and then resold. Because of this reason, I doubt the authenticity of the Apple products in my country. So I just purchased a Magic Mouse 2 from one of the most popular Apple products retailer here. When I got home and opened it, the did not seem BRAND NEW to me. It had smudges on it as if someone's hands have used it and those long black rubber stripes at the bottom of the mouse (not sure what they're called) also looked like they have been rubbed against a surface (like the mouse has been used). When I connected the mouse, the battery shown was 60%. Now one reason is that these retailers unpack the products they receive from the importers to check them and then reseal it before stacking up on their shelves. If that is what happened with this mouse then its okay. But I want to make sure that this isn't a USED mouse which they put in a new packing. What are the way, if any, to check that? I tried checking the coverage but for some reason Apple is saying the serial number is invalid. I'm pretty sure I'm entering the correct serial number. Is there a way to check battery cycles on the mouse like you can on a MacBook? Any other ways to check for me that this is actually new?
P.S. What surfaces are best to use it? I thought it can work on any surface but its acting a little funny on my wooden table and it got better when I put it on an opened notebook (on paper).
Thanks!
