How can I make Motion 3 run faster

I have an iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GM memory. It was bought last year. I try to only have Motion 3 and not many other programs.
When I am using Motion it moves really slow and I can't watch the project in real time even if I decrease the quality of the preview.

Is there anything else I can do to speed this up?

Not really. Motion is heavily reliant on the GPU which you can't upgrade...
