I recently replaced the SuperDrive in my early 2009 MacBook with an SATA hard drive caddy adapter, and placed a second 250 GB hard drive in the caddy. Mac OS X Lion detects the drive, and I want to install Windows 7 on the second drive, and I tried to install (via using an external FireWire DVD drive), but the Windows 7 installer says the second drive cannot be booted from and the BIOS would need to be updated?

Is there something in Open Firmware or something I need to modify, or can Disk Utility or some other Mac OS X utility do so? (it will eventually become an NTFS/FAT32 drive, but I still want Windows 7 to read it, and I don't want to mess up the Mac OS X system files in any way.

I tried Disk Utility and its "Master Boot Record," but would the "RAID Set" option get me somewhere?
Anyone have some kind of help for me?
