Is there a way I can transfer several past years of calendar events to a separate calendar or calendars viewable on my iPod Touch (OS5) in which they will simply reside on the iPod with NO need to sync with any other calendar? There is no need to edit or add events into these past records; they are simply history.

I actively use iCal with my desktop Mac and it now includes ten years of events, divided among a few calendars labeled by year. I sync via iCloud to my iPod Touch calendar. I actively make entries in the expected manner, but I also have more than occasional need to be able to view events which occurred several years in the past, events which no longer need to be edited or synced.

But, when I set the calendar settings on the iPod to "Sync Everything", the Touch is incessantly attempting to sync all my calendars including those of all the past years, and opening the current calendar to make or edit entries becomes excruciatingly slow with unacceptable delay while the syncing process churns.

Therefore, I am forced to keep the setting set to sync only the last 6 months so that I may work quickly and efficiently with my current and most recent calendar entries. However, this results in absolutely NO calendar events prior to the last 6 months being visible at all. I would like to SEE the past events, but not at the cost of the device slowing to an unuseable crawl.

Can I make this separate non-syncing / no-internet-connection-needed-to-view calendar within the iPod's calendar itself? Is a third-party app necessary? Any ideas what it might be (remembering that I do not want syncing, just ability to view at any time necessary on the iPod). I know there are multiple calendar apps, but I can't find info about any of them that indicates they won't also be incessantly and unnecessarily syncing with something too. Or, is there another "type" of app I could transfer the info into, such as some kind of "Journal" app?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
