I have a few Podcasts that are either no longer active or all their shows aren't available for download. I'm trying to transfer from my backups from High Sierra to a Monterey and can't really figure it out. I think previously, I either just moved the items to iTunes or the iTunes folder and they all showed up under the Podcasts section.

If I drag them to the Podcast app, nothing happens. If I open the file (which SHOULD move a copy of it to the right app), it starts playing in Music and adds a copy there. If I try an Open With Podcasts, I get "Can't connect right now."

Any suggestions? Do I just get over it? And am I missing something when selecting Podcasts episodes? I was trying to download ones that are showing up properly. Command-A doesn't work to select all and when I click on the episode, I get different actions. Sometimes it selects it, sometimes it starts playing, sometimes nothing happens.

There's no way to re-add an episode to Podcasts that I know of. Whatever you've downloaded, will need to be played via Music, QuickTime, VLC, other if not showing up in Podcasts.

What I do to download multiples (on MBP), cmd-click the episodes, two-finger tap to get the context menu, Download Episodes.

For playback, I upload the old/saved podcasts to my iPhone's Downcast app and play them from there. Only using Mac Podcasts to get new episodes, and putting them on external storage, for playback sometime down the road. So if a podcast goes dark, no problem.

For me, Podcasts has been a really flakey program for a few years now, so I don't trust it/use it for long-term management of episodes.
