I was wondering how can I have a live mirror of my iPhone's screen on my Mac. I know there is reflector but I'm looking for something for free since I won't be using this much, in fact, it is going to be only once.

Also reflector allows you to do wireless, while it is a plus, it is not necessary for me to be able to do it wirelessly.

I am not familiar with Airplay, does airplay allow you to do this? if not, what does it allow you to do then? And what does Apple use in their keynotes to demo iPhone features? I notice that they have the iPhone actually connected.

I believe with OSX 10.10 and iOS8, you will be able to mirror (and I think control) your iphone when its plugged in vie lightning cable. I cant confirm if this is 100% as I dont have the betas
