How can I recover deleted data from an external HD?

Mind you, the information is on an NTFS partition. I would like to transfer all the data from the partition into either a FAT32 partition, or if possible onto a Mac partition.

First let me know how I could go about retrieving the information (tons of Japanese animations), then help me copy it over to either of the above partitions.
