I am a computer idiot. Tried to transfer photos from old MacBook Pro to new one via a firewire transfer. Failed miserably. Now my iphoto library on older MacBook will not open. Any and all help will be gratefully appreciated.

How can I retrieve photos from corrupted Iphoto library?

Find your iPhoto library. It's default location is your Pictures folder. Right click on it and choose Show Package Contents. All your pictures will be in the Originals or Modified folders.
