Normally, I use Handbrake, and occassionally, MacTheRipper, to get my DVDs onto my Hard Drive, to put into iTunes and carry with me on journeys.

Here's the problem.

Handbrake won't read from the DVD source directly. It stays on ''scanning title 1 or 15''

MacTheRipper says it has bad sectors and might not work. Again, Handbrake just won't read this source.

I downloaded Aimers' DVD Copy, which supposedly removed D9 and D5 copy protection on DVDs and lets you either re-burn or save to a folder as a disk image.

Still, Handbrake won't read this source.

Is there any way at all to rip this DVD?

It seems impossible.

Now I've changed the DVD Region setting from 1 to 2, it works fine.

But this makes me think.. it won't be able to rip Region 1 DVDs now without swapping it back...

I'm guessing you're using the old 2.xx freeware version of MTR. If you want to rip newer movies with ARccOS protection, you'll need to upgrade to the latest shareware version, currently 3.14m.

Yeah, even then it's a bit iffy. Golden Compass wouldn't rip and the issue was that MtR was using the wrong title as the MF. I had to rip the first title.

I've heard this a lot, but is there any easy way to find this download?

I actually got I Am Legend to rip using MTR 2.6.6. It ripped and I got the message about bad sectors, but it worked anyway.

These days, I'm using Windows to do my ripping. DVDFab5 works great, and it's free.

ANY DVD , unfortunately PC only:eek::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

I did google it, but seemed to only find pay stuff. I really appreciate your doing the work for me. Thank you!

Sorry if I came across sounding like a prick. It's just the two word request for a link kinda got me. I do admit that it's kinda tough to find the free stuff on their website.

Anyways, it's all good.

I was able to rip it fine using handbrake. I did have some problems with rendition though :(
