As title, my MacMini is plugged into a 30" screen which is often turned off. The Mac therefore cannot give me the high resolution i want when connecting remotely. I've tried holding alt to get more options in scaled setting is display preferences, i've also tried the Apps "Display Menu" and "EasyRes"

None of them allow me to set the res higher than 1920 x 1080.

There must be a tone of people than run these mac mini's headless. How can i make it higher res?

I run my Mini headless with a Fit-PC dongle through VNC. I don't need a hi-res VNC connection but there is a 4K Fit-PC option (https://www.fit-pc.com/web/products/fit-headless/fit-headless-for-mac-mini/). If you connect the Mini to both the 30in screen and the 4K Fit-PC dongle then you should be able to chose either in Settings. Maybe this will work for you.

Thanks for the reply

Is there no way with software? I can't get to the machine physically at the moment.
