Is there a way I can stream music from the home pod to my iMac?

Like it was an airplay2 device?

It isn't yet AirPlay 2 capable, but it uses its own protocol that allows you to stream from the Mac to multiple things like HomePods, Apple TVs, as well as other Macs and even iOS devices running the AirFoil Satellite app. It's pretty wicked flexible, and it even streams without the perceptible delay I noticed began after one of the recent macOS and/or iTunes updates.
