I am still on 4.1 firmware, but I don't know what baseband I have. I tried to find how to check on google but I kept getting links I was afraid to trust.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

You can find your baseband version in Settings > General > About > Modem Firmware.

To find out if your jailbreak-able go to jailbreak-me.info

One more questions, should I refrain from jailbreaking to 4.3 when it does come out in effort to keep my baseband as old as possible, or will the eventual unlock be for 4.3 and beyond?

If you are going to be relying on an unlock, I would NEVER update the baseband without knowing the version I would be updating to is safe, even if your current baseband is not unlockable.
