How can I temporarily change the keyboard mapping to another language?

Once in a while I need to compose emails in Spanish.
My MacBook Pro's keyboard is in English, so how can I temporarily switch the mapping to Spanish? Is there a way to visually identifiy what new key got assigned to the existing keys? And finally, how can I switch back to English?
