I am very worried about it.
I plan on buying the dongle on BestBuy.
But I don’t want it to destroy the motherboard.

I use my MacBook Air M1 with a dongle all the time. It hooks up to my monitor and has ethernet and external speakers. I also have my external HD plugged in for Time Machine. Also I plug it in through the dongle to keep it charged and plugged in. Never had any issues.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/belkin...-mac-pc-and-more-gray/6452574.p?skuId=6452574 is this one dangerous for it? What is the reason in the past many people reported theirs frying the motherboard?

From painful experience, you can avoid this buy not buying cheap no-name brand dongles then. Spend the money on quality items.

I have a Caldigit Dock and it is my I/O hub when at home. I have a couple of trusted dongles for the road (Belkin mostly). Nothing else gets plugged into my M1Pro or M2 Air. I used to use all manner of cheapo cables from Amazon until one zapped the TB port on my 15" MacBook Pro (Intel) a few years back.

If you have Applecare+ and can be without your laptop for a few days then perhaps you're ok. But if you're out of warranty just spend the money you're not spending on a brand new computer on quality peripherals.
