How come everything image in my mac mail (sig images, etc) show up as attachments?

How come when I send an email to people and include an image file, screen shots, etc and paste them in the body of the messate, it not only shows up on the other end as attachments, but so do the images in my signature, etc.

How can I change this?

most non Mac mail-clients show the e-mails in raw text as a safety precaution... This is to secure it from viruses and so forth that can be attached in attachments and HTML formatted e-mails.

Basically, ask the recepients to change their mail client to HTML formatted e-mails
