How come my MBP reads 4GB of memory?

I was told the pre-Santa Rosa MBPs only read 3.2GB but here it is:

These are Buffalo Techworks memory specifically for Apple notebooks.

So roughly 3.2GB/3.3GB is actually utilized as shown in Task Manager?

I think it reads 4GB but only uses 3.2

It depends where it gets that information from. It shouldn't be able to see that last 700Mb or so, but if it is talking to low level hardware parts, it might recognize that it is there.

Regardless, if it's pre Santa Rosa, it shouldn't actually use that memory.

"About This Mac" reports what Apple System Profiler sees. ASP simply reports what's installed. It does not report the available RAM. To see that, open Activity Monitor. Should total 3.2 gb or so.
