Needed to leave my condo much earlier than usual yesterday. 90 minutes after I did I get an email from my neighbor that music was blaring in my place. I realized it was my HomePod alarm.

"No problem, I thought. I'll just stop the alarm remotely from the Home app on my iPhone." Only problem is, I now see the Home app doesn't allow for remote shutoff of alarms. I guess this is a 16.2 change because I used to be able to.

So I literally had to drive 45 minutes back to my place so my neighbor wouldn't go crazy from the noise all day. I felt so bad.

But for the love of god – why can you not remotely disable a HomePod alarm from your iPhone if the two are signed into the same iCloud account? It's ****ing ridiculous.

We were never able to control our alarms (and timers) remotely, but we used to be able to play/pause the HomePod remotely. Hopefully it's a bug, but I'm losing hope. This changed with 16.0, and nothing was done about it in 16.1 or 16.2.

However, we are still able to control our HomePods remotely through Shortcuts. Create a shortcut in the Shortcuts app, and add the 'Control My Home' action. Select your HomePod and configure what you want it to do. In your case, pause the HomePod.

I'm a little surprised the alarms don't have an "only when I'm home" option. I suppose that would have to be done with a home automation instead (i.e. start playing music at 6am only if I'm home).

I can’t even shut them off from a different room in the house. It used to work but now it’s the same response over and over… , “I couldn’t find anything like that in your home.”

Still works perfectly fine here.
“Hey siri, stop my nearby alarm”
“Stop the alarm on [insert iPhone name]?”
“Yes please”
*it stops*

We were in WV visiting our new grand child and I forgot to turn off the Homepod alarm---I tried everything and nothing worked. Hopefully you all find a way because we usually have someone watch our dog and she freaks if sounds like this go on too long.
Yes, I know, I could remember before I leave, but come on---we should be able to do this remotely.

I use the two way audio from cameras to speak to/control my HomePods remotely. It works perfectly. That’s up to you, though, if you want to have a camera where there’s a HomePod. Me, personally, I don’t care.

Yep, I agree but it does work…

True story: I work the overnight shift and my wife always texts me before she goes to bed, around midnight. This one night, I didn’t get that text and I was getting no response from mine so naturally, I was worried. It was close to 3am at this point. I spoke to Siri thru one of the cameras to play music at a high volume. She woke up from falling asleep on the couch to tend to the loud music and was wondering what the hell was going on. I was relieved at least to know everything was ok lol.

very smart!!!

i was thinking maybe sending an intercom message to the homepod might jar it from an alarm... not tested though!

I believe any interruption on the HomePod should cancel an alarm… or is that a timer 🤔. Gotta try this too.

yo dawg heard you were trying to control yer homepod so we got you a homepod so you can put a homepod next to your other homepod so you can use the homepod intercom to speak to the homepod next to your other homepod so your homepod will stop its alarm.

Seriously?

I was just about to try a HP Mini to replace an Echo, hopefully all my Echos. But I need to be able to remotely disable alert/alarms or just disable the unit like powering it off.

Hook the HomePod up to a smart plug and you can remotely power it off.
