Is there a straightforward way to count the number of tabs open in Chrome on macOS?
Counting tabs seems to be pretty doable in other browsers like Safari and Firefox. For example, several people have constructed simple AppleScripts to do the job in Safari (example here), and tab counting is even simpler in Firefox, for example by navigating to the about:telemetry page.
So how do get the job done on Chrome? I'm aware that Chrome on iOS has a simple tab counter on the top-right of the screen; I wish the macOS version had this functionality but apparently it doesn't.
I know determining the tab count in Chrome can probably be accomplished by any number of 3rd party extensions, but if possible I'd prefer not to have to install/maintain any extensions.
