How detrimental is having a lot of hairline scratches on the display screen?

I have a lot apparently and I was wondering will it affect the display in the future.

I can barely see it when the phone is turn on. Heck I can barely see the scratches until I shine light on top of the display.

It will effect your sale value. If it doesn't bother you, it's not a problem until its time to sell it on.

Light hairline scratches happen by simply wiping the screen down. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Only if you're wiping it with grit made of a material harder than the screen. If you're using a clean cloth it won't scratch the screen. A material has to be harder than another material to scratch it.
