I have Mavericks OS.
My daughter has a Facebook account, and occasionally grabs my machine and uses Firefox to chat, upload photos etc.

Now I am getting notifications of everything she is doing in Facebook (she's on another machine) - even when Firefox is closed.

I know how to turn off the Facebook notifications, but that's not what I am asking here.

What I dislike is the fact that Facebook has somehow got into Mavericks, and is not restricted to Firefox.

1) Can anybody tell me how Facebook managed to get into my system?
2) How can I get Facebook OUT of my system? I'm quite happy for it to be sandboxed in Firefox, but nobody (as far as I know) invited it to mess around with my system. It's lurking there still, just waiting for me to turn on the notifications again.

Any help to get rid of it would be much appreciated.

I would check System Preferences, Internet Accounts for a Facebook entry. And if I found it, I would delete it.

A.

Solved I reckon

Thank you, that looks like the solution.

You've also helped me find the culprit, my 12 year old son... Presumably he replied to some kind of helpful message from Facebook, and they were in.

Thanks again.
