Hi all,

Does anyone know how T-Mobile handled upgrades/ordering on launch day (w/ trade-in)?

Here is my situation:

I currently have an iPhone 7 that I bought via Apple/CitizenOne's monthly payment plan. I actually don't mind committing to T-Mobile, and am happy to pay off the rest of the loan and then trade-in the phone, assuming they have some special deals for the trade-in.

Does this overall make sense? Does anyone know how T-Mobile handles the phone trade-in + ordering particularly if you want to ensure that you get the iPhone 8 at or around launch day given the high demand?

Thanks in advance for the pointers!

It was fairly easy although I did has issue for about 6 months with them correctly adding the credits to my mo thot bill from my iPhone 6S I traded in and I had to contact them about 20 different times all in all and spent many hours trying to sort this will they credited my account all the money and made me pay off the rest.

I don't think they understand how much frustration and time was wasted in the process, no one seemed to care. So yea I'm still with them but more than likely I am NOT participating in anymore promos with them and will just trade in my phone or sell elsewhere and just pay cash like normal

I'm sure it will be similar to what it was last year but I don't like the monthly stuff. How about you just take my phone, give me cash or gift card for the value of it and let me pay the rest in cash?

Then they won't be able to guarantee you would be on their service for 2 years or you would be paying the difference owed between trade in value plus remaining balance vs the full price of the phone. They have to get something for artificially boosting your trade value.

Correct but a few months ago my friend switched over from Verizon and traded in his iPhone 6 for the S7 and they sent him a gift card for the full amount of the phone to go use at a T-Mobile store to apply which was odd

Only one way to do business with T-Mobile.. and that is go into one of their stores and have the sales rep setup the trade in for you and the bill credits. They'll also give you the new plan in writing for your records. Then if anything does go south like what happened to member "Billburns", you can go back to the store and speak with someone in person who will help straighten it out. I've been with T-Mobile for over 10 years and have always gotten good service from them. I also am lucky that there are 2 or 3 T-Mobile stores close to my home.

That's differenthe because they are getting a phone in a store plus someone's business for a considerable time like a 2 year installment plan. Carriers normally benefit from transactions.
