How do alarms work?

Anybody know how this works? If I tell Siri on the watch to set an alarm for 8AM does that set an alarm? And if so what makes noise, the watch, the phone or both?

Yes it sets and alarm. And here's the setting in the Watch app:

To me it seems like the alarms will go off on the phone, and you can have it pop up a notification on the Watch to dismiss or snooze it.
