Hi,
Strange questions I know, but if I were to get some custom Pages templates and add them to Pages:

1. Can I add them to the templates folder?
2. If I open them, does it create a new document with the template style, or is it actually editing the template?
3. Can I store documents in folders within Pages?

Thanks in advance,

AppleMatt

I may be wrong but I don't think Pages on iPad supports either folders or custom templates yet. (You can make pre-formatted documents and use them as templates, but you have to remember to duplicate and rename them, so you don't overwrite the originals.) These seem like logical features to be added in the next major upgrade.

I was kind of surprised by how limited Pages is when I first started using it. But I like it anyway and use it all the time. I guess Apple is trying to strike some kind of delicate balance between functionality and simplicity. I'd personally like to have a word processing app with less emphasis on page design and layout and more on usability as a writing tool. That's always been my beef with Pages on the computer, too. This seems like a nice opportunity for an independent developer.

Yeah, there are no folders in Pages.

To make a custom "template", create a new document and just call it "My Template" (or what ever you want). To make documents based on that tempate, highlight "My Tempate" and press the "+" icon picking "duplicate document". Edit the duplicate, and save it as you would any document.

Right now there isn't a way to put things in Pages' template area (hacking aside).

Pages works very well with cloud storage. It supports iWork.Com (free from Apple), MobileMe, WevDAV services (like drop box) and so on. You can save and load documents from folders on these services directly from Pages and Numbers.
