iPod How do dead pixels happen?

ok,I swear when I got my iPod,it had no dead pixels or stuck pixels.I put a video around last week and then it was clearly noticable that there is a "blue" dot.I KNOW for a fact that it was not there when I purchased it and it just appeared last week.Do dead pixels happen after I buy them or do they happen during manufactering.
