I am having trouble adding a HP Photosmart printer to my Mac. I can print from my other laptop running Windows XP and attached to the same network.

Printer is HP Photosmart 2575xi. I installed driver for it from HP website. On doing the "Add-Printer->IP Printer", the printer gets detected but the correct driver does not show up in the drop down list for "select drivers". I tried doing an approximate driver by selecting HP Photosmart 3310 instead.

On sending document, the print dialog shows error. I tried specifying port# 9000 with the IP address in add-printer dialog. That resulted in sending the document to printer but it came out as garbage with few raw lines per page.

Anyone know how to make Mac detect the new driver? Do I have to specify a port number with the IP address?

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that my mac is running Leopard, i.e. OS 10.5.

Thanks!
