how do I add english subtitles to a spanish avi movie file?

I have a .AVI movie that is in spanish, I am wondering what software is there if ANY to add and create subtitles......also does it translate for you? the problem is I dont speak spanish but I really want to watch this movie....

Creating your own subtitles is a difficult task. You not only have t translate the language you have to get a program that will do the encoding and work the timing so the subtitles come up in the right place. It's not something you can do yourself, especially if you don't even speak Spanish.
