How do I assign a thumbnail image to a movie file?

Hi all,

I love the way Finder displays video clip icons based on the artwork I assign the movie clips in iTunes...

But is there any way to do the same way (adding a thumbnail jpg to a movie clip) WITHOUT it being imported into iTunes?

Is there a special application that's needed or can it be done in a simpler way?
