I just recently bought a LaCie 500GB Rikki portable hard drive. Anyways I'm trying to back up my Address Book to it. So I drag the Address Book to the hard drive thinking it would back up all my contacts. Went to test it on my wife's MacBook Pro, it just shows her contacts in there and not mine. What am I doing wrong?

What did you drag? The Address Book application? If so that doesn't contain the data. It's just the application. You Address Book data is in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/

Yes I did drag just the application, I'll try your suggestion. Thanks!

What do I drag over there the whole Address Folder or just the contents in there, if so which ones? Thanks!

I'd copy the whole lot if I wanted a backup. You can also get AddressBook to create an archive of your contacts to backup (which is somewhat easier and can be imported to another Address Book as a merge) via the File->Export->Address Book Archive... command which is what I think you should do.

I'm confused now? All I want to do is have a back up in the event I lose my Address Book.

Sorry, this all new to me. Now when I drag the whole folder over to the hard drive, and test it on my wife's MBP, it shows I have about 100 contacts. I have well over 300.

:):):)
Just wanted to say thanks to robbieduncun for your help.
Did exactly what you said, now I have a backup, again thanks!
