I know that I have to hold down C but my problem is I have a password at boot. I KNOW the password so that isn't the problem but if I just hold down C it does nothing.

I have tried option C .... and still it just boots to OS X.

How do I boot to a CD when I have a boot password?

What about just holding down Option while the CD is inside?

And what CD are you talking about? Is it even bootable?

Because despite a firmware password on my MBP, I was able to boot from the SL DVD and install my Mac OS again. It booted right into the DVD right after entering the password, which appeared after holding down C or the Option key.

What Mac do you have?

I have a macbook pro. I spent the whole day installing windows (Vista as it is cheap and I am not using windows that much) and then I used parallels to jump across. Sadly parallels seems to have messed it up and I don't want to reinstall windows again. main reason 104 updates that took 3 hours just to download. I have work to do.

I need to use the cd to repair the install but even if I hold c or option the cd drive is not coming up (with cd in the drive).
