I just got a Series 3. When setting it up I chose 'not very active' (can't remember the exact name of the level).

However, 2 hours into my day I've already closed my rings.

I tried to change my activity/exercise level but I can only increase/decrease calories.

How do I change my level to intermediate or above?

Many thanks,
Keith.

I think it's all calorie based. Everyone has 30 minutes for the exercise ring and 12 for the stand ring. If you want to be more active you can set your calorie level higher in the Move ring by clicking on the rings (as if you wanted to see their progress) then doing a long press. That will bring up a Weekly Summary and Change Move Goal option.

As you wear it more, the watch will learn your habits and start setting extra monthly challenges for you, typically harder than your previous month.

I typed "apple watch how to change activity level intermediate" into Google and got this as the top link: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8283704

The Move goal is initially set based on the activity level that you selected when setting up the Activity app.

It is not possible to reselect the answer to that original question, but nor is it necessary to do so.

On Monday of each week, the Activity app provides a Weekly Summary via the Notification Centre on your Apple Watch. At the foot of the summary, a new Move goal (Active calories) may be suggested. This will be based on your previous activity performance, along with the option to adjust the goal.

The Move goal can also be changed at any other time to any level that you wish:
  • Open the Activity app on your watch:
    • When viewing the time on your watch face, tap on the Activity rings icon / complication.
    • Or go the Home screen (via a single press of the Digital Crown, when viewing the time on your watch) and tap on the Activity app icon (coloured rings).
  • Press firmly on the screen and release > tap on Change Move Goal > change the goal.
