All iPads How do I check for water damage on a WiFi iPad?

A friend of mine spilled water on her iPad 2. Unfortunately, the model has no liquid contact indicators of any kind. All the searching I've done suggests that I look in the SIM card tray, but there is none on the WiFi model.
