How do i check if my iPhone is unlocked or not?

I have a Canadian phone that was locked to FIDO company.

I think i have unlocked it....not 100% sure.

How can i know if its unlocked or not? I dont have any other SIM at the moment....

What makes you think you got it unlocked?
Unless you contacted your carrier and they agreed to unlock it for you.
They'll tell you to restore your phone and you'll get a message on the screen that the phone has been unlocked by Apple.
Then it will work with any sim you put in it without any jailbreaking or hacking.

run to ur friend who has tmobile.
ask for the sim, and place it on ur iphone.
thats all you can do i guess

So he can try putting in a Rogers sim card. If it works, then it's unlocked, if it's not, then you won't get any service.

Yes, the only way to know for sure is to put a different carriers sim card in.
It shouldnt be that hard to find someone.
