I've searched and found some tutorials on how to check for the bootrom version. I have the phone in DFU mode and when I check in Windows XP in my device manager, I see a Device Instance ID. But the number/string there looks nothing like what I've seen in the online tutorials. Can someone help me figure out why I'm not seeing it? Thanks!

Did you look through the whole string? It's at the very end of the Device Instance Path.

I didn't have a Device Instance Path, only a Device Instance ID. Is it because I have an older Win XP machine or something maybe?

Hmmm, weird that it's not at the end. Sure you're in DFU?

Yes, it was in DFU and not restore mode. Got back out of it no problem and I could see a difference in the string, but still not real long like I was expecting.

I also ran a program called f0recast-1.1.exe and it showed my BootLoader as 6.4, but that is different from the BootROM correct? I was expecting 359.3 or 359.3.2 to show up if it was the BootROM.

Ok, I'm at home now and tried it on my Win7 machine. Found the right category and the bootrom version is crystal clear. Maybe just doesn't work right on XP?

Anyway, since my 3GS is showing IBOOT-359.3, I should be able to JB it using 4.0, correct?
