How do I connect to .Mac thru a firewall?

I cannot connect to my .Mac email or get iSync (Backup) to work when I am at work behind the firewall. Basically I can't connect to .Mac from work.

Do I have to get certain ports opened on the firewall? or do i have to change my config on my Mac

Likewise the Safari https problem. Can it be fixed by opening ports?
