I recorded a podcast in AIFF using Audio Hijack Pro, then edited in Audacity. I exported as .m4a using the ffmpeg encoder plugin.
After uploading the podcast to iTunes, I got an email from a listener saying he can't listen to it on his iPod. He said he noticed it was encoded with "lavf" and that he's had problems with this format before. He directed me to a Google search and there does seem to be some problems listening to "lavf" encoded m4a files on iPods.
Have you heard of this before? Is this a known issue? Any other alternatives? I know very little about this subject (digital audio), so any guidance you can offer is appreciated.
I sometimes use Fission, but it doesn't offer an AIFF > m4a conversion. It does offer AIFF > mp4, but then I lose the ability to do enhanced podcasts.
