How do I copy contacts list to iMac?

I have been given a iPhone 4 for personal use. However before I can use it I need to copy the contacts list from it to my iMac so I can then do a hard reset of the phone. How do I do this please? Need urgent help please.

If you sync the phone to icloud and are logged into icloud on your computer they will automagically import into contacts.

You will maybe need to add in the iCloud account to the Accounts section of Contacts if you haven't set it up before.
