My music fits on an 80GB iPod but not on any iPhone.

I would like to create a playlist of discrete albums but that doesn't seem to be possible... Am I missing something?

What is a "discrete" album?

For me creating playlists of albums is as simply as dragging an album to the playlist, even from the browser (in iTunes).

When I create a playlist the music appears as a continuous list of music instead of individual albums that I can select for playing.

If there was enough room I would simply copy my iTunes library to an iPhone. But even the 64GB iPhone 4G is a little too small; I have just over 64GB ripped at 192 and 256 bit rates.

Create a new playlist and press cmd-B to show the browser.

Sorry, I don't understand... When I do this all that happens is three blank panes appear at the top of the iTunes window. No music is visible.

Drag the album artwork icon into the playlist.

One thing, how are "discrete albums" different from "albums"? The above assumes you meant "complete albums". If this's what you want then just drag the artwork icon
